about

On this new album I've been continuing to explore the theme of
sonic autobiography that has been creeping into my music over the last few years.

Using field recordings of places I've been to, odd rhythm loops mad
e using simple iPad apps and my trusty £15 guitar the songs have evolved and unfolded as I have worked on them.

Over the summer I made recordings of the sounds in Folly Farm in Pembroke shire and the great organ in St David's Cathedral to name but a few and these have all become part of the music.

Some of the tracks have become recognisable songs and others are just sound collages. Any vocals that were done have been one take improvisations drawing lyrics from the first book or magazine
that came to hand I wanted the tunes to be quite fresh & spontaneous.

REVIEWS

Pulco music is home-recorded lo-fi experimentalism - observational,
poignant and at times laugh out loud funny. …..This album is an evolution nary step forward for Pulco and it is a lo-fi wonder of first magnitude.

LOUDER THAN WAR

Over the years AMP has made no secret of our love for Ashleigh Cooke who, for more than a decade, has been releasing mind blowing music under the name of Pulco. If you are already a fan of Pulco then you will know exactly why his music causes so much excitement here at AMP, he is one of those artists who once you have let him into your life, you will treat every new release with the excitement of a kid at christmas.

A MUSICAL PRIORITY

Pulco makes the sort of music that sounds throwaway, not over-produced, simple stuff -- but when he finds that hook he can make music of real beauty. Seemingly casually created, Cooke's tunes -- stuff like this one -- are haunting and touching.

A PESSIMIST NEVER DISAPPOINTED
