about

Here at Metal Postcard we say this is the most Hot Chip thing we've heard since Hot Chip but with extra added Italo pop electro genius

.. please people wake up to K. Board & The Skreens

K. Board & The Skreens say.....

The latest clinical trial found that a single dose of the active ingredient in magic mushrooms, combined with psychotherapy, helped alleviate depression in nearly a third of patients with severe depression. The finding follows other promising results suggesting that psychedelic drugs could be used in treating conditions including anxiety, PTSD, addiction and anorexia. (The Guardian, Tue 8 November 2022)

KB&TS go psychedelic? Not quite, as they’ve always been kinda out there. But this time they wear their sleeves on their cards. Or the other way around. Whatever. That’s not the point. The point is that it took so long to concoct these songs that the whole experience has been a trip in itself.

You see, KB&TS don’t live together like hippies in a commune, they’re not even neighbors. In fact they live some hundreds of kilometers apart. Two of them live in the grey city (noise, machines, dogshit, exhaust, cocktails and business) the other two live up there in the hills (trees, birds of prey, wood smoke, cold mornings, silence, weekenders and freeclimbers).

Still the connection, the bond, is very strong and flows through ways unseen, gurgling and sprouting though intermittent. Yet this time a tree was blocking the water flowing, the flux was not fluxing properly.

So we took our time. And we all went to the woods. And got a bit lost. And we napped. And then we found our way.

TRACKLIST:

Song for the end of the summer – “The title says it all, in case just listen to the lyrics”
Stupid Country – “This one had a spoken word part that was about…something, but we ditched it. The song anyway is still about the fact that countries, as in nations, are stupid.

”
Bujumbura – “We loved the sound of this word. We thought it had no meaning, but later when we Googled it for fun we found out that this is the name of the capital of Burundi! We had no idea! Isn’t that something?”

Crazy Pant Mountain Man – “This is - of course - a true story.”

KB&TS– BIO

KB&TS were born in Milan on a lazy afternoon in 1998 out of boredom and a broken Bontempi keyboard. Since 2013 KB&TS released a few tracks every now and then.

In 2020 they released Langue – EP, which thanks to a few nice words in the Bandcamp Daily, got KB&TS their 15 seconds of fame.

In 2021 they tried to double down on their luck with the release of “The New” (EP). It didn’t work. Still all was not lost, since they got the attention of Metal Postcard Records, which released both the EPs and also this one.

Yay!

MICRODOZE is their third EP. Can’t wait to see what happens!

MANIFESTINO

K. Board & The Skreens think of themselves as punk, but define themselves an “electronish group”, the music not falling exactly into any dance-derived genre of electronica. The style of KB&TS can be defined by three constants:

1) lo-fi (if not incompetent) and strictly DIY attitude to music
2) complete uninterest in sticking with “a genre”
3) KB&TS never played (and have no interest in playing) any concert
