I must admit to loving the fracturing nature of Pulco’s releases, you’re never to sure which version of his perxsonality is going to manifest, last time out it was the frankly near perfect ‘garden’ wherein a rarely tapped psych alchemy came to the fore.

This time however things are a little schizoid and impishly off the wall with the onset ‘Chrome Toe’ – his forthcoming set for the recordiau prin imprint. The spectre of the Fall invades the consciousness of ‘Dan’, its wonderfully dishevelled persona creaking, stuttering and ambling loosely along an angular trajectory that’s part darkly surreal in a Soft Bodies collective type way and austerely lo-fi.

Similarly toned in Smithisms, ‘brunt’ weazes and guffaws teetering at the edge of a shambolic chaos all the time spikily serving combination jabs of no wave oddness that strangely forge a curious likeness in terms of feel and delivery as to that of a certain Mr Bowie a la ‘the gravedigger’ albeit as dug up and over by the folk at foolproof projects.

‘guff’ is clearly the weirdest of the trio of preview tracks, whacked out time signatures, deranged arrangements and a clearly barking creative up yours makes this schizophrenic art schooled sore thumb the kind of thing that admirers of Bearsuit reprobates Whizz Kid will happily welcome with open arms and a slightly scary smile.
