about

We've been spoilt and have received permission to release another from the Bordellos back catalog

Ronco Revival Sound has previously only been available as a ltd ed CD release.

Listen to the early Bordellos and catch whiffs of the Weeds, Cast and the Liverpool underground DNA that runs through their vast catalog of music that pays homage to the art that is English pop music from Billy Fury though glam, the Fall and all things that are good about "this sceptered isle"

REVIEWS

I absolutely adore The Bordellos. I suppose you could call them a family affair, but this is not Partridge like with a lets do the show right here vibe. The band are deliciously left field, an Indie joy that you have to listen to repeatedly to embrace their talent.

I've said many times that Brian Bordello is a Songwriter par excellence. He writes about the everyday mundane life in a small town and frowns on the constant nostalgia that inhabitants only ever want to talk about. People don't seem to go abroad for holidays because it's a bit far.

The lo-fi of recent years masks the strength of the lyrics that pour from his soul I've often yearned to see the band with a bigger studio budget and imagine the delights. So I'm chuffed that Metal Postcard have reissued Ronco Revival Sound. The 2013 album was from headier times and remains a superb offering.

In all this Indie goodness and songs that come from unusual angles there is still the incredible beauty of A Man You've Never Seen, a song that should get worldwide attention. Compare that to the organised cacophony and spite of Tattoo Heart.

The title track is maybe the closest thing that could be described Top 40, it is a splendid example of what you could describe as the intelligent 80s Indie Rock that so few mastered

I HEAR A SINGLE

Merseyside trio The Bordellos seem totally disconnected from any current music trends, and it's entirely deliberate.... The Bordellos would never have got on Top Of The Pops, The Radio 1 Roadshow, been anywhere near as revered as Lennon, Elvis, or even Gary Glitter (before he was found out), but they're not supposed to be. Fitting in doesn't feel like part of their game plan.

TV BLOG SPOT

I’m fairly certain that had Mr Peel been alive today, the Bordellos would surely be the Kath’s Karavan house band where the Fall or the Weddoes indisposed.

As with all the main players to have smitten the DJ over the years the influences that stir the Bordellos are not immediately apparent, like the Fall and the Smiths before them, the bordellos operate in a vacuum, perhaps rather more a parallel continuum where the musical presets ushered forth are skewed, for they are not quite the sore thumbs but rather more a collective hive mind viewing the pop landscape by means of slightly twiddled off radar visor.

Ronco Revival Sound’ is a love note to pop music, through memories, fashions and legend, an intimate insider peak at an aural picture book....one things for certain you’ll struggle to trip over an album so brutally naked in its vulnerability, openness and defiance in kowtowing to the great pop script
