We are extremely proud to present this release, by the Bordellos, for free on record store day.

Four beautiful songs paying homage to one of the great English songwriters of the last 100 years, and we don't say that lightly.

Listen again to the Teardrop Explodes for pop perfection or his St Julian persona for perfect rock star excess, never mind the whimsy and madness in between.

His unforced songs about mother earth are a thing of beauty and his understanding way back when that the mainstream of rock would eventually pick up on Can's motorik and Japan's 70's drone.

Oh.. did we forget to say writer, historian, documenter and bard to the better side of England's past. A man who can combine Noel Coward, Ted Hughes, Syd Barrett and AJP Taylor all into one is ok by us.

And who better to pay dues in song than St Helen's, Bordellos.

Lazy descriptions of this band abound lo-fi, indie, underground etc etc

Mark our words though. A couple of generations of music down the road and this band will stand like titans above the rest of them and this ep is a perfect testament to their 56 Elvis perfection, 76 Swell Maps perfection and 96...er...actually there was nothing in 96 that stands up to this band.

They are what the best English bands have always been, terminally unhip sublime songwriters with an encyclopedic knowledge of popular music who know that an audience should never be pandered to.

As Louder Than War once said....."Not everyone knows it yet but, everyone loves The Bordellos."

We gather this that this ep was originally offered to a label who said it was too strange to release.... good god people it is written for and about Julian Cope, what do you expect!

And if the version of Law Vegas Basement doesn't make the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention or reduce you to a blubbering mess, then please check that you are actually alive.
