The fourth bird perched on the telephone wire Cold, shivered black, in solitary attire
Haunted by magnified fear from the past Beating black wings of loneliness
The fifth bird flew too near the sun Panicked, it burned like a fired gun Cracking the mirror in my mind’s eye The place where dreams begin and die
The sixth bird tried but could not fly
Cold despair could be seen in its eyes Broken inside, with blood at its beak Weighed down by the clutter it had to keep
The seventh bird fell into my dream
It cackled as it showed me what might have been I awoke and it sat upon my chest
A heavy burden of hopelessness
I pray for the day when someone will say Look up at the Sky, All the birds are leaving The Sun’s rays illuminate a new day dawning A new day is dawning
